Concert: "What They Say About the Night" Caffe Elevato 7/19/23

What a wonderful evening. We played so many of our favorite songs, and filled the 50-seat room with over 70 people! Thanks to all the old and new friends who came out to hear What They Say About the Night. The casual interactions with the audience as we performed made this night uniquely intimate and joyful. Caffe Elevato is a huge cultural gift to St. George. This was our second concert as The Whitesides, after our 4-hour New Year's Eve show at Aragosta restaurant. We will continue to develop some of these songs. Thanks to Trevor and the staff of Caffe Elevato, and thanks to Matthew Wright for lending equipment and expertise as our sound supervisor AND his greatness on 12-string and sliiiiide guitars, Jesse Solomon for playing the drums, Natalie, Dylan, and Chris for making so many drinks, and Everest for making SO MUCH FOOD! This marked the 1-year anniversary of Caffe Elevato's opening, and was "probably the best concert we've had in our one year of being open," according to the owner.

"I loved every single song, and I felt like I was in a movie the whole time."

"It was fun, funny, and you guys engaged authentically with the audience!"

"The energy and the way you sang, I was falling into trances!! Just good memories all around!"

–B. Olson

"I can't believe that this show happened in St. George. There's nothing else like this happening around here!"

"The Whitesides are a fantastic duo. They perform pop songs exquisitely thanks to their first rate musical chops and stirring voices. We enjoyed every moment of their performance—as did everyone else in the standing-room-only crowd."

–Stephen, Katie, and Charlotte Armstrong

With over 70 combined years of musical study and experience Kathleen and Chris Whiteside are serenading and celebrating with highlights from the vast canon of great modern Western music, with some personal favorites and new finds thrown in.

We are on a mission to learn and share the best music of the last 100 years, and we'd love your ideas for our next setlist.

What songs played at your parents' high school prom? What tune did your mother sing you to sleep with? Did your parents have a song?  Do your ears ring in the key of 30s jazz? 50s rock? 70s ? 90s? Celebrate where our ears have been, where they are now, and where they may be going.

Looking for background music? We can do solo piano, solo guitar, or voiceless sets.
